Meet Andrea

I started this book review blog about ten years ago via Wordpress.  I wanted to have a space where I could amplify the work of independent authors.  My first book was self published.  However, I did not have access to major marketing streams or any networks that could help promote/sell my book. I had just started working as a librarian and was equally troubled by the fact that libraries weren't too welcoming of self published authors.  My goal is to change that through my current work in libraries and with the American Library Association.

While I've published my second book through a traditional press, I am still a supporter and advocate for indie authors. Reviews in the City (RITC) is a self funded blog where authors and book enthusiasts can work collaboratively to promote each other's work. I envision RITC as a community blog where members share resources, recommendations, current projects, book clubs, and so much more. Given the increased in book challenges that seek to limit the types of narratives available in libraries, spaces like RITC are important.  Together, RITC authors can create visibility for each other.  There's no subscription services for RITC and membership and book spotlights are completely free.

If you are considering joining RITC, I asked that you help us maintain a safe and mutually respectful networking environment for all members. See Privacy and Members Code of Conduct Page. I also ask that you commit to not only amplifying your own book related work/writings but the books/writings of fellow members and RITC via your personal social media networks and within this site.

Happy Writing and Happy Reading - Andrea
